Hugh’s mouth opened, then closed. He finally said, “I would love any child of mine, Molly, no matter what.” Then he stood, walked around the table and pulled me into his arms. “If I really felt the way you say, I’d walk out of this room and never glance back.” His mouth feverishly met mine, leaving me helpless in his arms.
